Trigonometry

How to solve

For y = a sin(bx), amplitude is |a| and period is 2π/|b|.

Steps

  1. Amplitude: peak height from the midline (= |a|).
  2. Period: horizontal length of one full wave (= 2π/|b|).
  3. Enter periods in exact pi form, e.g. pi/2 or 2pi/3.

Example

y = 3 sin(2x)

  1. Amplitude 3.
  2. Period 2π/2 = π.

Answer: 3 or pi

How to type answers

  • Period: exact pi form like pi/2 or 2pi/3
