How to solve
A parallelogram is A = bh. A trapezoid averages its two parallel bases first: A = ½(b₁ + b₂)h.
Steps
- Parallelogram: multiply base × height.
- Trapezoid: average the two bases, then multiply by the height.
- Height is always the perpendicular distance.
Example
Trapezoid with bases 6 and 10, height 4.
- Average of bases: (6 + 10)/2 = 8.
- 8 × 4 = 32.
Answer: 32
