How to solve

Polynomials are continuous everywhere, so their graphs have no jumps or holes. That means lim_{x→a} p(x) is simply p(a): substitute the limit point directly.

Steps

  1. Confirm the expression is a polynomial (no division by zero issues).
  2. Substitute the limit point into the polynomial.
  3. Simplify to get the limit value.

Example

Evaluate lim_{x→2} (x² − 3x + 1).

  1. Substitute x = 2: 4 − 6 + 1 = −1.
