How to solve

e^x is its own derivative; e^(kx) multiplies by the inner slope k each time.

Steps

  1. d/dx e^(kx) = k·e^(kx).
  2. Multiply by the outer constant c.
  3. The exponential itself never changes.

Example

d/dx of 3e^(2x)

  1. Bring down k = 2.
  2. 3 · 2 = 6, so 6e^(2x).

Answer: 6e^(2x)
