How to solve
Rewrite both values in the same form (often decimals), then compare. With negatives, the number further left on the number line is smaller.
Steps
- Convert a fraction to a decimal (or both to hundredths) to compare.
- For negatives, the larger absolute value is the SMALLER number.
- Check for exact equality before reaching for < or >.
Example

- 3/4 = 0.75.
- 0.75 > 0.7.
