How to solve
A graph makes slope concrete: the steepness is how much y changes for each step in x. A slope triangle drawn on the line shows rise (vertical) and run (horizontal).
Steps
- Pick two clear lattice points on the line (or use the labeled points).
- Count the vertical change (rise) and horizontal change (run).
- Compute m = rise/run and simplify. Watch signs.
Example
A line passes through (1, 2) and (3, 5).
- Rise = 5 − 2 = 3.
- Run = 3 − 1 = 2.
- m = 3/2.
Answer: 3/2
How to type answers
- Enter a simplified fraction like 3/2 or -1
